Michelle Calio, Licensed Massage Therapist
Description of Services:
Michelle has studied many modalities of massage in her many years of practice. A typical session begins with an in-depth consultation of your health history, personal bodywork goals and what modality works best to meet your goals and give you the most relief quickly. One of Michelle’s most extensive studies is Thai Bodywork - Dubbed “Lazy-man’s Yoga”, Thai massage is performed on a Thai Mat on the floor while wearing loose fitting clothes like what you would wear to yoga. The massage is both stimulating as well as relaxing. Pressure point massage along the body's ten major energy channels, releases blocked energy and increases awareness and vitality. Gentle stretching of the joints and muscles relieves tension, enhances flexibility, and induces a deep state of tranquility. You will feel completely revived and restored, experiencing relaxation throughout the body and tranquility of the mind and spirit. Michelle’s other continuing education certificates include: cupping therapy, hot stone, sports massage, trigger point, myofascial release, pregnancy massage, Swedish, reflexology, lymphatic, auricular therapy, ayurvedic massage, Indian head massage, aromatherapy and reiki.
Michelle graduated from Phoenix Therapeutic Massage College in 2001 from a Master of Massage Therapy program with Sports and Spa specialties. She holds a massage license for the State of Arizona and is also a member of Associated Bodywork and Massage Professionals. In 2008, Michelle graduated the Herbal Path School of Botanical Medicine as a Western Urban Herbalist. Michelle combines her herbal and massage knowledge to blend special oils for pain relief, nerve regeneration and pure relaxation which she incorporates into her bodywork sessions.
